URGENT: Help keep ocean destruction at bay

We’ve got one more chance to finalise a Treaty to help protect 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030 — and we need your help to do it.  SIGN THE PETITION to tell the UK Government to safeguard our blue planet at the UN talks.

Next week, governments are gathering at the United Nations (UN) for what must be the last time to secure a Global Ocean Treaty.

Scientists tell us that at least 30% of the world’s oceans must be protected from exploitation by 2030 to ensure they heal. This month, more negotiations on a Global Oceans Treaty will take place. Because without it, the 30×30 target will be practically impossible to deliver at sea.

If governments don’t succeed over the next two weeks, destructive industries will continue to harm the oceans, impacting the billions of people who rely on the oceans and deepening the climate crisis.

Last year’s negotiations got us closer than ever to securing protection for our oceans. But ultimately talks failed because governments like the UK, EU and US brought too little to the table, too late.
